Houey Free is a next-generation producer from Houston, TX. Houey’s signature sound, which has been compared to the likes of Sango, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott. is one that incorporates hard-hitting bass with unique melodies. Since making his first beat at the age of 12, his sound continues to evolve as he develops and improves his production.

 

Houey started producing music professionally in 2013 for the Band of The Hawk; an indie Label/Group similar to Griselda & Wu Tang. He picked up the moniker after the resemblance to the character from The Boondocks. Houey has attributed his influences to DJ Screw, Madlib, & J Dilla. Houey’s first solo studio project titled ‘Jaded’ was released in 2020. He often samples flips 90s R&B samples in ways listeners can’t quite put their finger on where they’ve heard them..often exploring abstract, futuristic, and retro sounds.
